Image therapy for flashbacks.

In India there is this concept of Darshana, which in a simple sense is " appearance". To have darshana is to have a look at.

So when we go to temples we stare at the idol of god/goddess for long periods of time and when we come back home the peaceful , happy faces of god/goddess linger on in our mind for long periods of time.

This is said to induce tranquility and bliss for sight has enormous power on our mind.

It is the same thing that happens in a negative way when we watch porn. It excites you and the images remain in your mental screen.

Yoga for the transformation

It has been a long time since I have been contemplating on writing whatever I know of yoga and tantra in a simple way.

Before going into the actual details of some of the techniques, I would like to say a few things.

In the Rajayoga form more emphasis is laid on "brahmacharaya" which means, abstaining from the sensual pleasures totally. However there are broader definitions of brahmacharaya which I am not going into.

But in the tantric tradition the emphasis is on transformation of sexual desires into the divine as opposed to total withdrawal from sensual pleasures.

Turning point ?

Progress:

For the past seven years I had almost shut down most of my physical activities (exercise, yoga martial arts etc.) for the sake of my career and also because of my sedentary life style.

Now , through occasional adventures I have realised that I cannot live without my physical workouts.

Not been able to get rid of m/o completely but have made good progress with bonding behaviors from the last one week.

Then the seer abides in his own true nature

The third shloka from portion of contemplation from Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.

Explanation:

You are the seer. You are not the body nor the mind. You are the knower or the seer. You always see your body and mind acting in front of you.

You can see you body and your mind. So , what you see cannot be you. You know that the mind creates thoughts. it distinguishes and desires. The seer " knows" that but is not involved in that.

But to understand the eternal peaceful you, the mind must be quiet; otherwise it seems to distort the truth. How do you see yourself ?

This is what should be done
By one who is skilled in goodness,
And who knows the path of peace:
Let them be able and upright,
Straightforward and gentle in speech.
Humble and not conceited,
Contented and easily satisfied.
Unburdened with duties and frugal in their ways.
Peaceful and calm, and wise and skillful,
Not proud and demanding in nature.
Let them not do the slightest thing
That the wise would later reprove.
Wishing: In gladness and in saftey,
May all beings be at ease.
Whatever living beings there may be;
Whether they are weak or strong, omitting none,

An epistemological question

When I was small, we had a general belief in the society that masturbation was harmful. But then there were many books written by well known doctors.(Allopathic) who went on saying that masturbation is natural. Now after 20 years later, you know that neurochemistry and brain studies shows the ill effects of excessive masturbation and ejaculation.

Can we create a database ?

Community topics:

Can we think of some kind of a simple and short log where people come and log their p/o/m habits on a daily basis, so that they and all can view it and it can also serves as a nice database to study the patterns, length of addictive cycles , triggers etc ? And could also help individuals as a record to support their recovery. ( Something which looks like a calender ? We could also give it a nice name like a 'healing calender' or something like that.)

The members could also write what method they used to overcome their addiction in a word or two.

Miraculous trigger

Before I loose interest in telling my story, I thought I would pen it down. For I am not sure how long I would be interested in verbalizing my state.
