While I was collecting material for Peace Between the Sheets, a lovely young woman explained to me that she didn't want to try the alternative of controlled intercourse with its absence of hot foreplay because she wouldn't be able to use all the great lovemaking skills she had mastered. At a later date she revealed that she had just broken up with her boyfriend because she didn't like “being f*cked like a porn star.” She didn't see a connection between her behavior and his....
Wilhelm Reich has had a powerful influence on Western sexuality for decades. Wisely denouncing repression of sexual desire, he may have veered too far in the opposite direction. Certainly, the primitive reward circuitry in our brains has generally interpreted his message that "total satisfaction" is the key to health and happiness as "the more climaxes the better!" Yet Reich's observations were not so simplistic. Have a look at this post by a Reuniting blogger who shares a quotation from Reich's book...
Do you have 'good reason' to be wary of the opposite sex? Most everyone who has been sexually active for a while has been battered by a painful, failed romance. Not only that, many have a parent or other trusted adult of the opposite sex who took impulsive actions that were harmful to family members. ... So how do we get rid of the “brain worms” attached to frightening memories so they don't keep attracting things we don't want? Try Ho'oponopono - combined with the buddy system.
In some therapies clients work directly on healing specific issues, or on re-living wrongs, a process which often re-traumatizes the sufferer. Ho'oponopono does not. It works at an entirely different level, and is as much a spiritual practice as a healing technique. ...
FILM: Adult Entertainment: Disrobing an American Idol
Director's notes
This is not a porn film. It isn’t a documentary about the porn industry.... It’s a documentary about the effects, if any, of explicit media and entertainment on consumers. I passionately wanted to make this film because close friends, family and myself have been affected by porn to some degree or another; even to the point of what some call, “Porn Addiction”.
... I was dead-set on discovering any effects of porn 1st hand. So we decided to run our own porn experiment with a married couple and a single man. We found a study done in the 80’s with 160 subjects. They gave them a “massive exposure” to porn for a short period of time and discovered some dramatic results. We decided to conduct a similar study contemporizing it to fit current technology and accessibility. We sought the advice of these original scientists, as well as research experts from 3 other major universities; a delicate balance of non-bias.
... At roughly the same time, Cal State University conducted a similar study with about 100 college students. The results reflected those of our on-camera subjects.
