Lesson 7 from "Love is Letting Go of Fear"
Today I will Judge Nothing that Occurs.
Today, be willing not to make a condemning judgement against anyone you meet, or even think about. See everyone you meet or think about as either extending Love or as being fearful and sending out a call for help, which is a request for Love.
Today, allow yourself to have the single goal of inner peace by putting all your attention on the following thoughts: Today, I will view without judgement everything that occurs. All events provide me with another opportunity to experience Love in place of fear.
My first thoughts around this lesson was: "Man, this is going to be a tough one. I have strong judgements about this town and the people in it. I tend to judge quite harshly humans on earth as a whole at this point in our history."
Nevertheless I had an interesting revelation about this lesson today. I met some street people huddled around a shopping cart on my way to the store and at first noticed myself trying to steer clear of them. When one of them asked me for money, I gave him two gift cards that I buy for this kind of thing at a cafe run by a local social service agency in town. It felt good.
When I started thinking about a local government agency that treated me very poorly (I used to work there as a casual), my ability to suspend judgement and see their actions as a "Call for Love" was much reduced. I need to do more work on my life before I'm fully capable of letting go of that depth of hurt.
It was interesting for me to note that its easier for me to suspend judgement on people who are clearly struggling and more difficult with people in positions of power and influence.

Great idea
sharing the cards.
Thanks Marnia
I've been doing this for a while now. I have trouble walking past street people and I also have trouble giving them money. At first I would give them gift cards for a sandwich at a corner store near where I live, then it shifted to cafes. When this new cafe opened run by the John Howard Society (they support men in jail and do alot of work for street people), I thought that it was a perfect fit. The cafe trains street people as servers to prepare them for future work too. I usually get $5 cards and give them to the people I run into who are looking for handouts. It's not alot, but it helps me feel more at ease as I walk by.
This is really a great idea.
This is really a great idea. The government should give people cards to hand out and pay the bill when the cards are used. People that need them might feel more inclined to use them when it comes via an individual even if they know it’s government money. You might suggest to this organization that they consider letting people open accounts so they can hand out cards, but the money isn’t lost if it isn’t redeemed. That way you can spread the wealth a little more as some won’t redeem the cards.
Thanks Freedom
I'm not so worried if they don't redeem the cards, because the money is being put to good use anyways. I'm sure if they don't use it, it gets passed on eventually to someone who will. The most important thing in my mind is that the people who do go to the cafe have the opportunity to make a connection that could help them get off the street permanently. Thanks for the thought!
