Home!
I'm sure Marnia will forgive me this slight breach of netiquette. This blog entry is off topic (if environmental rape is off topic) but I couldn't resist sharing the news with you.
TODAY is the big day I've been anxiously waiting for the last few weeks. Today is the day Yann Arthus-Bertrand releases his movie Home worldwide and for free.
This exceptional documentary is exclusively made off breathtaking aerial shots of our beautiful planet which, sadly, has been raped by human greed and short-sightedness.
Home has just been released a few hours ago simultaneously on the internet and in 50 countries world-wide: the 90 minute version of the movie will be broadcast today on the 5th of June in television channels across the world. You can also watch it online (link below). The long version (120 minutes) is being released at the same time in theatres all over the planet.
The documentary is released in English, French, Spanish, German, Russian...
Be among the very first to watch it:

Let your friends, family and colleagues know. Email everybody you know. Copy and paste this into a new email and send it now.
Let this be a worldwide event where we, together, take conscience (because we still need to!) of the fact that we cannot live without our Home. Without our planet to sustain us, we simply cannot survive.
And maybe this is not so much off topic for this site after all. The environmental rape of our planet has certainly been exacerbated by our unbalanced sexual practices. I cannot fathom a civilization practising Karezza being so careless in the management of our planet's resources we so much depend on...
Watch it now! Share it now! It's free. And it's a message we still need to hear.

What do you think?
I've already watched it twice. Once in English and once in French. All in HD: I have never downloaded such a high quality video from youtube (1.4GB!).
I had very high expectations for this movie. And I have not been disappointed. The photography is absolutely stunning (it's worthwhile to find a good computer and watch it full screen. Fortunately, I have been able to download it to watch it with my favourite player). The music is divine. The commentary very poetic.
And the documentary ends with a very positive note. I love it.
Make sure to schedule a time to watch it and let us know how you liked it. Let your friends know about it, too.
Now, I'm going to check if it is screened in a theatre in my country. I'd love to watch the beautiful photography on a wide screen in a movie theatre.
Merci, Augustin!
Gary and I will certainly watch it.
And, yes, it is relevant. In fact, I recently wrote an article entitled, "Sex, Scarcity and Sustainability," which is supposedly going to be published in a Penguin anthology within the year. Our inner state shapes our experience. So, if we keep ourselves in neurochemical turmoil...with feelings of lack due to low dopamine...what else can we create? This is the secret that sages have known for millennia.
But there's hope.
Anyone else here has seen it?
Let me know when your article is published.

A few weeks ago, I was surprised to find out that there was no existing wikipedia article about Home, so I created one. Yesterday, the article was still mostly empty. Today, all of a sudden, it has taken shape: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Home_(documentary)
HOME was the first film ever to be simultaneously released in theaters, on television, on DVD and on the internet in five continents. On May 5th, 2009, the film makers announced that the film's release date would be June 5th, 2009, World Environment Day. Here, they also announced that HOME would be 100% free for everyone to view, as "The Benefits of this film cannot be counted in dollars, but in audience figures."
Gary and I finished watching this
yesterday. The topic may be grim, but the photography is like a string of jewels. If you haven't found time to watch yet, try to make some.
Your post is CERTAINLY
Your post is CERTAINLY relevant, Augustin! I've often thought, working in the environmental movement, that our physical and environmental dissociation go hand in hand. They're certainly part of the same problem, so any efforts to revitalize the balanced ecosystem of human embodiment is a boon to the environmental movement, and vice versa - any efforts to revitalize the balanced ecosystem of earthly (Gaian) embodiment, is a boon to our bodies and their earthly enjoyment.
Thanks
Thank you both for your comments.
If anybody wants a copy to watch with their favourite player, let me know, and I'll arrange a download point for the source file (1.4Gb!)
