Alchemy of Rain

I once saw the court of Cupids dominion.
A Lady of Thought, stirred the vision within.

Such a possibility
first appeared to me
as a cloud in form so free.
Born by exotic swift winds
stirring a foamy sea.
Then freedom turned heavy
darkening in it's girth
And like lightning I recanted
tears falling to the earth.
With lifeless religions
I buffered my pains,
denied my sacred yearnings
and angrily cursed the rains.
Thus for futile years
I saw freedom not at all
But carried it in my memory
as a daemon I once dared call.

Where now is freedom ...
a land locked lake,
or deep underground stream?
I have felt it shape shifting,
melting me only in dream.

Through these days I questioned thus:
Where now are freedoms songs,
that I go in dogmatic wanderings
of icy moon barren ways?
Where the bright and fervent eyes
clear seeing of soulful visions?

Dare I dare to stand again
to speak my word of soul creation?

Yes! I choose to worship at the breast of a woman.
The Red Thread, my inspiration, my renewing fire.
By this confession, rebirth had well begun.
Bowing only to the ruby rose, and wine,
I willed to soar again on freedoms wings,
and offer lais of love in the presence of the divine.
The waters of my life a vapor, before celestial suns.

Weary of my measured practice
I relaxed my discipline and soon fell fast asleep.

A hand touched my shoulder and I spun round,
I found myself walking longside a stout man.
"I'm a fellow traveler,"said he, "come with me."
I asked what he was doing in this place of dream.
He said, "I paint the light in children's eyes.
Perhaps one day, I should paint you."

"I am no longer a child" I said.
"Precisely why," was his laugh filled response.
"Your light, alas, has faded."
I thought to object, but kept my peace,
wondering if I had betrayed the child within.

I then asked him where the children were,
and where were his brush and paints
he said, "Ahhh yes, I once needed such things.
I have left such baggage behind
in other places and other times.
Finally, I have begun to learn my art."
