Love, sex and the male brain
I just noticed this in one of my RSS feeds, although the piece is pretty brief, I looked the author up and she has a new book coming out this year entitled - The Male Brain
Amazon write-up - this book might already be available in America
"From the author of the groundbreaking, international bestseller "The Female Brain" comes the eagerly awaited follow-up which demystifies the intricacies of the male brain. Did you know that the male brain: is a lean, mean problem-solving machine that uses analytical brain structures, not emotional ones, to find solutions; thrives under competition, instinctively plays rough, and is obsessed with rank and hierarchy; has an area for sexual pursuit that is 2.5 times larger than that of the female brain, consuming him with sexual fantasies about female body parts; and, much, much more. As Dr Louann Brizendine's impeccably researched, irresistible guide follows the male brain through every phase of life, from infancy to adulthood, it unlocks many secrets and offers fascinating insights into a range of subjects, including emotional intimacy, anger, aggression and winning. It also provides answers to many baffling questions and exposes the often shocking gulf that exists between the sexes."
She has one book currently out called - The Female Brain
If you want to have a look on Amazon or somewhere her name is Louann Brizendine and she is actually "a neuropsychiatrist...an expert in women's moods and hormones" to quote wikipedia.
This section was interesting to me, about the effects of a woman's pregnancy on her partner.
"A man in hot pursuit of a mate doesn't even remotely resemble a devoted, doting daddy. But that's what his future holds. When his mate becomes pregnant, she'll emit pheromones that will waft into his nostrils, stimulating his brain to make more of a hormone called prolactin. Her pheromones will also cause his testosterone production to drop by 30 percent.
These hormonal changes make him more likely to help with the baby. They also change his perceptual circuitry, increasing his ability to hear a baby cry, something many men can't do very well before their wives are pregnant.
And a word to the wise for all the young mothers who are reluctant to let your husbands hold and care for your newborn. The more hands-on care a father gives his infant, the more his brain aligns with the role of fatherhood. So, hand over the baby."
Her books look interesting, they appear to discuss the biological factors relating to the sexes, anywho, just thought I'd post, in case it was of use to anyone
Hope this is ok, I am a collector of links and articles,
, and love to share them.

to hear, or to care?
Do these pregnant female pheromones increase the male's ability to hear babies cry, or do they increase the likelihood that the male will actually respond in a helpful or nurturing way to the crying? As a male bonded to a non-pregnant woman, I have no difficulty whatsoever hearing babies cry. Rather, crying babies are extremely easy to hear, and also make my irrationally annoyed. In fact, the sound of crying is among the several thousand reasons why we have mutually decided not to have children. Is it possible that females are themselves also affected by pregnancy such that they respond more positively to crying? Very interesting!
Yes, I thought it was
I happened to read a section in the Science section on here - http://www.reuniting.info/science - check out the section on Turning off desire and then read the little section I quoted above, something is certainly going there.
I personally cannot stand the sound of children crying, I am certain that I have read that the hormones released after birth make women more receptive to a baby's demands, one would assume that as the baby is the mother's own, and as she is bonding with it, that its cries would be interpreted differently to random baby cries before birth.
Ain't humans fascinating! We're like this enormous jigsaw puzzle.
