Something that helps me
I don't beat myself up over mistakes that just happen. I don't count days with masturbation, for I'm single and that just reminds me of the whole thing. I never though got fallout from masturbation alone, and the porn problem didn't get really bad until I got into extreme porn. Then major dopamine problems seemed to arise.
I also follow a ketogenic diet, for besides the health reasons, I find the less impulsive cravings in diet helps carry over. So much mental issues can be linked to sugar and high carb diets, and the average person knows a sugar crash. Day in and out, certainly puts you in an awkward position.
Perhaps another thing that has always help me, was simply overpowering negative thoughts. Feeling a slump coming on I would get some fresh air, or if I couldn't I would simply fight fire with fire. If something is telling me I can't, I fire back with o ya BRING IT ON. Takes a bit of work, because once you get full on slump, it is hard to muster the energy to reverse it. The more you put effort into positive thinking the more it will just happen. Think of it as muscle memory, it becomes automatic after awhile.
Heavy/power metal seems to pump me up for a challenging day as well.
Don't think of porn as this huge burden. Know it is deep down, but don't give it more thought than it is worth or it shall just become more of a forbidden fruit. It is why I don't filter results, if I get the random image I don't want to see, it mimics billboards I come across. One cannot avoid it all, and the true indication of getting over any addiction is being able to live along side it even if you choose not to indulge. Porn will never go away, and we cannot cower to it, but rather embrace it as a nuisance to mankind that many can remove themselves from.
Good luck on the quest, stay strong. Do not fret if simply removing porn doesn't turn you into the hit of a party, feel empowered that you conquered what so many cannot. Nothing is failure if you never surrender.
