Hate to be a winger ...but

Im finding this new forum a bit confusing and no where near as tidy as the one you had,
posts dont seem to fit on the page,
a lot of the set up is half way down the page so you have to go looking or you could miss it entirely
and Im having trouble working out what Ive read whats new ect.
Im a bit of stickler for advertising ect so I like to give and recieve feedback when it comes to these things,
with kindness Amie.

Thank you for the feedback.

Hello Amie,

Thanks a lot for the feedback. You are the first member to comment on the new setup, so I appreciate hearing about your experience.

We were using phpBB for our old forum, and Drupal for the rest of the web site. It is recognized even within the Drupal community that its integrated forum is not up to par with phpBB's forum.
The reason is that phpBB is only a forum. It does one thing, but does it well.
Drupal allows us to do much more than a simple forum do, it is much more complete in terms of features and possibilities, even if its integrated forum can seem a bit primitive compared to phpBB.

Not having a forum fully integrated with the rest of the web site were limiting us in terms of options for the future development of community aspect of the site.

Personally, I am happy that we moved the forum.
A web site is always a work in progress. If the recent move was a dramatic change, expect more smaller but incremental changes in the future: the forum migration was only the groundwork for other things to come.

Meanwhile, your feedback help us to think about ways to improve the useability of the site and its forum.

This is a design problem. It can always be improved. What is your screen resolution?
The side menus in the forum are now the same as in the rest of the site, so the problem you seem to highlight here is not specific to the forum.

Which set up are you talking about? When trying to post a message? You user settings?

This is because the move is recent, and the system doesn't 'know' you and hasn't had an opportunity to track what you've read or not.
Soon, you should see a red [new] tag next to the posts you have not read.

Feedback, one way on another, is always appreciated.
Obviously, many similar functions are situated in different places, so I think you need to get used to the new surroundings.
On the other hand, as I already said above, many details can be improved. If you suggest something specific, I can discuss the technical feasibility with Marnia and if possible implement your suggestions.

Blessings.

By the way, you can go anytime to:
http://www.reuniting.info/tracker
to see all recent posts throughout the site (and not only the forum). Click on the link 'Recent posts' on the left menu.

Also, you can go to your user account http://www.reuniting.info/user
and click on the 'track' tab: you will have a list of all the forum discussions you have taken part in. You will be able to see clearly which discussions have new replies.
(click 'my account' on the left menu, then click on the tab 'track').

I hope it helps. Smiling
