I'm a 25-year old male. I found this site somehow by searching for information about serotonin (THANKS to GOD for the fortune).
As I read, I found there is a lot bigger picture about how things are working then I expected. A picture of reward system and addiction. A picture that can explain my experience with my urges, sexual desire, orgasms, and hangovers after them. So I gained more knowledge about how my brain works.

Just to clarify, this site is not about repressing sexuality (that is, trying to avoid orgasm out of fear, because it's "sinful" or dangerous). Nor is it about swearing off masturbation forever. Men who choose to overcome porn addiction have taught *us* that stopping *both* masturbation and orgasm for an extended period makes it easier to quit. This makes sense because anything your brain associates with its addictive, super-stimulating "reward" (porn/masturbation) can trigger intense frustration.

Visit our sister-site, Your Brain On Porn.
These pages of this recent book (The Brain That Changes Itself) by psychiatrist Norman Doidge are very relevant to porn addiction, and also, if you keep reading, to how and why oxytocin (connection with others) can help reset the brain:

Here are some thoughts from several men who have overcome porn use:
The first step (I know this is cliche) is recognizing you have a problem- knowing that your chronic masturbation to porn has adversely affected your life and relationships.
It took me multiple attempts (and I learned from each attempt) but I have now been masturbation and porn free for six months.

Today is the 50th day of my reboot. So far it has been an incredible experience. I have changed on so many levels! I have 11 days left until my reboot is complete. How do I know? Well when I started this reboot I thought it would take 61 days to rewire.
Anyway I wanted to talk about this girl...(this seems so strange- last year I would never ever have guessed I would be able to say that sentence. Bear in mind my P addiction did not hit me at all with ED but instead made me an introvert with no social intentions the longest sentence said to a girl being "Hi")

Hi all there, first of all please excuse any typos or errors that my occure as I'm not a native speaker
Being 32 years old and from Germany I suffer from ED since more than 10 years now. Since I've read a lot bout this issue - especially in the last weeks - I'm sure that I can call it a porn related ED, because I found myself in so many posts describing the problems occuring with porn-overkill.

Hi,
I have been posting here and thank you so much for your support so far.
This has been 125 days and my libido is not back at all. I have been a bit desperate.
I'm 36 years old, a porn user since 15 and a "heavy" user since 24 or so. My porn use escalated to the point I couldn't get an erection unless I used my hand and saw an extreme material. Even with that sometimes I had to force an orgasm with my penis half erected.
I am healthy other than this and I have a social life, I eat healthy diet, I started exercising recently.

Hello,
Same old story, 56 days into reboot. I have two question about reboot symptoms that I haven't seen directly covered here.
1. Has anyone had extremely dry skin? I've noticed over the reboot that [for the first time in my life] I've had the strong urge moisturize. I used to have oily skin, but now its dry. Particularly my face.
2. Insomnia is a common symptom, but I notice that I can go to sleep fine, but wake up well before I need to (sometime between 4 and 6 am).
Does anyone else have these reboot symptoms?

I would like to have some input on the following assumption I made...
Hypothyroidism may create very similar symptoms to porn-induced ED.
I mean, it seems that in both cases (hypothyroid and PMO), the dopamine reward system is numbed down.
I was wondering: this is why women struggling with hypothyroidism are very often depressed, have bad mood and have very low sex drive ?
Anybody heard of hypothyroid-induced ED in men ? (God forbid a man with hypothyroid and cronic PMO...)
