This research shows how bonding behaviors can positively affect health by reducing stress.
A dose of the hormone Oxytocin reduces the stress hormone Cortisol in arguing couples. In addition, Oxytocin strengthens positive behaviour, as researchers at the University of Zurich have discovered. The study by the psychologist Beate Ditzen has appeared in the specialist magazine "Biological Psychiatry".

Here's the abstract:
Lower CSF oxytocin concentrations in women with a history of childhood abuse.

Last night I went to the bar/cafe and sat in a booth with my girlfriend from Barcelona and two other women who spoke Castillian. A man was standing near our booth, and my friend said to the woman next to her, "Invite him to sit." There was free form classical music...musicians hauling heavy stringed instruments arriving every ten minutes, and the music was clever. I kept tuning in to what the violins were doing, tuning out the conversation. The man introduced himself, and we spoke quietly.
