More than just a reboot part 1 - Health

Hey guys. That day is approaching and I'm really excited. But this is going to be more than just a stop PMO. This is going to be a full out change in my life if I can just keep on track. I recommend you all make similar changes in your life, as well. Although the whole "SMART" goal bullshit recommends only having one goal at a time, I don't believe in that. I feel with routine, I should be able to make beneficial changes to my life. I am writing this section in 2 parts.

45 days, libido is back

Just a little update on my progress.

I found some method for relieving anxiety. It's called "The Linden method". It is actually very easy and originally designed for a much more severe cases. I'm currently adopting the principles and I think it works! I have used a similar principles on my own in the past, with some sucess, but now I'm confident I can finally relieve my anxiety for good. If you have anxiety issues I think it is worth a try. The method is based on neuroplasticity.

It's been a while, but I thought I'd make an entry to keep track.

Still going well, I seem to have settled into a good state of mind and am mostly rejecting fantasy as soon as it arises. I've lapsed a bit with meditation recently, and I've had some fantasy thoughts start to take hold, so I must return to that. Tackling fantasy really is the key for me, because if I can keep it in check then I don't get any urges to masturbate or look at porn, it's like I don't even have to deal with them.

How to end the suffering...

Hello,

I want to reach out to anyone on this forum or reading this who is trying to cast off the yoke of sex addiction.
I have suffered with the addiction for over 15 years which has manifested itself in many ways. Effects include/d: compulsively spending hours watching extreme pornography, compulsive masturbation, unstable and negative sexual encounters, visiting prostitutes and so on. I am sure I don't have to explain to many reading this the suffering which these addictions create not just for ourselves but for those around us.

First week..pmo and binge eating connection?

Believe nothing just because a so-called wise person said it. Believe nothing just because a belief is generally held. Believe nothing just because it is said in ancient books. Believe nothing just because it is said to be of divine origin. Believe nothing just because someone else believes it. Believe only what you yourself test and judge to be true. -Buddha

Being a practised abstainer/relapser I've travelled this early territory many times before, but this is the first time I've managed to meditate fairly consistently while abstaining and it is great help - I'm noticing fantasy thoughts arise pretty quick and stopping them before they take hold. My mind actually feels stronger on occasion, it's like I have more control over my thoughts than I used to.

Meditation (T minus 93)

Been ok the last few days, the biggest danger for me at the moment is letting myself lapse into fantasy when encountering a trigger. I've learnt from previous experience that abstaining from p/m/o is no good unless I abstain from fantasy too. I've found meditation to be useful here, and this week I've (almost) stuck to a daily 10-min meditation session. When I do this in the morning I find that for the rest of the day I notice any fantasy arising in my mind a lot earlier, and so it's easy to stop and not follow it.

Is meditation the push-up for the brain?

Is meditation the push-up for the brain?
July 14th, 2011 in Psychology & Psychiatry

(Medical Xpress) -- Two years ago, researchers at UCLA found that specific regions in the brains of long-term meditators were larger and had more gray matter than the brains of individuals in a control group. This suggested that meditation may indeed be good for all of us since, alas, our brains shrink naturally with age.

Being

What you are is not the voice in your head (your ego) but you are the being above the ego, the one watching the thoughts in your mind come to mind and pass away - the one watching and noticing the thoughts that your brain throws up constantly.

By focussing on the moment, on your breath, and not thinking you can get in touch with this inner body, this natural intelligence inside yourself. You will feel more connected with your true self and more able to cope with and control the ego, banishing its stranger suggestions into touch.
