Transorgasmic Sex

Huelmo, ChileDear Marnia,

I'm Francisco Moreno and I live in Santiago de Chile (South America). Firstly I want to congratulate you for your page. It's one of the best I've found on the web. I was seeking a page where the sexual subject was approached with the perspective of a no-orgasmic model.

I'm a psychologist and for years I've been interested in writing about tantric sex, sexual alchemy and karezza. My project is very serious, because I believe it's really necessary that people discover this other way of understanding and living sex. It's also necessary to have a theoretic model, because a good theory is the first step toward making a phenomenon visible. Nowadays, for example, where we refer to sexology the only standard is an "orgasmic model". There is not anything else. Other approaches like tantra, taoism, etc., are therefore considered eccentricities or oddities.

I've practised the karezza method. I know from my own experience that it's grand and that this method has a strong connection with a spiritual path. It's the only way for men and women really to meet each other through sex. My bet is that there is no need to become "oriental" or "taoist" or any other religion or extracultural way of life. I put my hope in the "trans-orgasmic" experience that all we human beings can move toward.

In 2003, when I was a student of psychology in the university, I published an article in a local magazine. I called it "Transorgasmic Sexuality" (Sexualidad Transorgásmica), where I introduced the term "transorgasmic" for giving insight into a different model of sexual response, contrasting with the usual "orgasmic" model (Masters & Johnson's four stage model: excitement, plateau, orgasm and resolution). The article is divided in "part 1" and "part 2", and sadly I don't have any version in English. The links to the Spanish version are:

We need new "maps" that offer new theories and new models. In science, a good model is a good tool, because it simplifies and reduces complexity. Often it's not literal but metaphoric, and it can be descriptive or functional.

Models define limits of reality and can make visible (or invisible) a particular phenomenon. In sexology we can see how sexologists are blind to this other kind of sexuality, and the reason is their theories prevent them from considering another possibility.

For example, Masters & Johnson made a model in 4 stages; Freud made another model based in the libido; Reich created a similar one centered on charge and discharge. And so on.

That's the importance that I see in developing a good model for explaining the no-orgasmic experience of sex. That's the purpose of the term "transorgasmic", because we can speak about an orgasmic model and, on the other hand, a transorgasmic model. The metaphor I've developed is based in thermodynamics. I use the term "irreversible expansion" (for example, an atomic explosion) for the orgasmic experience, and I use "reversible expansion" (for example, a nuclear engine) for the transorgasmic experience.

bridge in ChileAs psychologist I've studied many authors. I want to offer bridges between science and religion, psychology and esotericism. My belief is that transorgasmic conscience has existed in all cultures. It's expressed through symbols and myths, even unconsciously. That's the reason I love myths and I'm also very influenced by C.G Jung's work.

Transorgasmic vision does not belong to sexuality only. It's a consciousness about our life and relationships, and about the life of our body and its connection with our mind and our spirit. I'm interested in describing this kind of approach in the field of sexuality, but I'm also interested in studying it in myths, art, sociology, poetry, religion, etc. Even in sports and other physical or aesthetic disciplines we can find experiences similar to transorgasmic.

I hope my article can become a first step. However, what I really want is to write a book. I'm gathering and studying a bibliography, making contacts and gathering data and experiences. Your page is very valuable for me, because it provides many books and references to scientific papers. Sometimes I feel my country is too remote and does not give me as many opportunities. Fortunately, we can count on the internet. If you can help me in my project, I will be grateful. Maybe we can collaborate; I think the work that you do is very important.

All my greetings,
Francisco
