Back Again!

Hi Y'all,

I've a new computer and the old one has been retired so I'm Internet connected again. My health went through some major crises and changes over the last few months. My inner world has changed fundamentally as well.

Head's up.

My computer is becoming quite unstable (It overheats unexpectedly and I can't figure out why (It's very old)). So it looks like its time to get a replacement.

I can't spend long on the internet anymore, so you might not hear from me for a while.

Just thought I'd let you know.

Sincerely,

"Arnold"

A Question for the Women

I've been connecting with a website dedicated to providing networking opportunities for people with IBD (Crohn's disease, Ulcerative Colitis, Diverticulitis) and asked if anyone thought there is a connection between these illnesses and sexual health. Certainly, in my life, there is. My flares of Crohn's disease are frequently the product of a connection with a woman going drastically (although usually very subtly) wrong combined with the distinct lack of interest in sexual health in the community around me as a whole.

My Body and Me

Hi,

Rachel got me to dust off my Eckhart Tolle books and dive into them again. It was a great idea. There's lots in his writings that is very relevant to me these days.

He wrote a fair amount about becoming aware of and letting go of what he calls "The pain body". He gave me some insights into what the signs of it being activated are in me. Anger is a key flag. He also talked of the body being a "portal" to our True Nature and Inner Peace. This intrigued me and is proving to be a catalyst for a major change in my attitude towards my body.

Balancing Inner Male and Female

I've had some insights that I want to share with you.

Recently, as I've been struggling with stabilizing my health in response to some very clear social triggers, I've been seeing the way I generally judge men and women more clearly. It seems that this has connections to the way I judged my parents and as I update my perception of them, things that were fuzzy in the past are becoming clearer.

Ingredients to Love

I picked up a copy of "The Art of Loving" by Erich Fromm at the library yesterday. He has some interesting comments about what are essential ingredients to love:

Care
Responsibility (as in the ability to respond)
Respect (as in seeing the other)
Knowledge (of the other)

He described these as a kind of constellation of mutually dependent attitudes. They all need to be present for love to thrive.

How to find a partner.

Here's an interesting exerpt I found in a book by Robert Holden called " Loveability".

Robert is describing a conversation he had with a teenage friend (Adam) who seemed to have more luck with the girls:

"Adam, how do you do it?"
"Do what?"
"How is it that you get all the girls, and I don't?"
"Don't you know?"
"No," I said.
...
"It's easy."
"Tell me then."
"I love myself."
"Is that it?" I asked?
"Yeah," he said, "And you don't love yourself, Robert. Not yet, anyway."

Another Blessing.

As I've been exploring the world of mantras I came across one that seems to be particularly relevant to what I'm attempting to do within myself:

"inviting the feminine (Shakti) energy of the Universe - Om shrim shriyei namaha (Om and Salutations to the creative abundance that is the very form of this universe)"
