Porn and Advertising... Is there a difference?

Here are links to an article I saw on Yahoo! Quebec today and it's associated Youtube video. It's both disturbing and funny. The video is in English. It was created by University of Saskatchewan gender studies students. The article is, unfortunately, in French.

They are describing the effect that sexualized advertisement has on both men and women.

On Femininity,

I've been pondering a number of things recently. Most are related to the balance between masculine and feminine energies in my life and in our culture. A woman friend surprised me recently claiming that women needed to reclaim their femininity. I guess I've been somewhat blind to the aggression in women. It's becoming clearer to me as I see the shortcomings of the mothering of my childhood and the way my body and moods react (very strongly) to women who compete for attention by playing the victim or the seductress in my presence.

Small blessings.

Hi Y'all,

Just thought I'd fill you in on a few small things that have been happening recently that could prove to be much larger breakthroughs for me in the long run. I think it started when I was introduced recently to Lucia Capacchione's work "The Power of the Other Hand". It seems that writing out inner dialogues with both hands is having a balancing effect on my mind and emotions. It makes sense to me that it would help harmonize male and female energies within myself. It also seems to be helping me connect much more strongly with my own body.

Harmony between Right and Left.

Hi y'all,

I've come across an intriguing approach to self-healing which seems to be remarkably powerful yet just as remarkably simple. I see connections between bringing harmony to the inner aspects of male/female relations and the techniques that Lucia Capacchione uses for self-healing (see: http://www.luciac.com/index.php/articles/123-creative-journaling).

Respect

Here's another quote I came across that I found inspiring and thought that perhaps you would too. It reminded me of the importance of friendliness and freedom in human relations:

"Love is respect, tremendous respect; love is a deep liking; and love is sheer joy in the presence of the one you love. What else is Love?"

from Osho. 2009. Life, Love, Laughter. pg 98.

Yesterday, I was wondering, as I talked with a friend, "How can I respect myself in this conversation?" It seemed to help. I immediately became less stressed and more at ease in her presence.

Love

Hi y'all,

I came across an interesting quote about Love and thought I would share it.

It seems to me that Karezza is an effort made by two very intimate partners to help each other uncover the barriers to Love within themselves. It also seems to me that there are things I can do on my own particularly when a willing partner isn't available.
