He’s Just Not That Into Anyone

Maybe we should have a news section because this is far from scientific.

This made me wonder how much men put themselves into porn scenes. I'm not a pop culture follower and would have trouble naming a single porn star. I'd often stop watching porn at some point in order to bring myself back to myself before orgasming.

The notion of following particular porn stars seems to go against novelty seeking. It's perhaps a clash between favorites/pop culture and novelty.

What man would not be riveted

Those guys are focused, but I am sure I would look the same! Surely every man is susceptible to this addiction, although some to a worse degree than others? It is in the end the ultimate in "reality" entertainment, and if you are drawn to it you have to pull yourself away. We could all be drawn in to some extent to watch a "Real Housewives of.." marathon It is lurid and interesting and designed to hook viewers, but for some people, a few minutes is enough, for others, they can spend all Sunday watching a marathon of back to back episodes. Porn is of course many times more compelling; I guess some men can walk away, and some can't stop looking.

I like the author's idea that this addiction epidemic is less like Ebola and more like a common cold, afflicting large numbers of people, but with symptoms that are less dramatic and less immediately debilitating.

Of course, I've done that with my favourite shows, but I've never masterbated to Top Gear

Not even the episode with Sienna Miller. :D
