Emotional Freedom

Sacred sexuality is for the emotionally healthy and stable. It is they who will benefit most. This is part of the reason for the often long apprenticeship in some esoteric traditions before one is allowed to deal directly with the sexual energy.

Sex not only has a physical element which is a genetic instruction shared with the animals. Sex also has an emotional component unique to humans . As such, the free flow of healthy sexual energy is subject to modification and blockage by experience. That experience can be adopted beliefs, physical trauma, and associations with past events - our sexual history - both positive and negative. Our emotional state is a determinant of how we make use of the sexual energy in the future and whether or not we will be able to benefit from its promise of intimacy, and spiritual joy. Sexual intimacy for many is associated with compulsive, addictive and compensatory behavior, neediness and loneliness, anger and stress relief, fear and frustration. Our self image and sense of worthiness also figure in. Sex in the past has likely been used as an avoidance or escape for looking within and dealing with life issues. Freeing the emotive element allows more energy to be available for every task including the spiritual connection.

The endocrine and neurological systems are interconnected, according to western science. This interconnectedness is the foundation of psychosomatic medicine. ““Peace”” does a superlative job of explaining the chemistry behind the emotional separation of couples as they find themselves at the effect of our biological program. Eastern medicine has taken a different starting point in exploring energetic systems as the cause of mental, emotional and physical imbalance or well being. Theories of energy channels (meridians and nadis) and the life force which flows through them (prana. chi/ki) have evolved to enable both the healer and the spiritual seeker to achieve, health, happiness and transformation of the human condition.

Our western doctors are catching up with the east. In the field of mental health, we have long way to go. We may know that we are NOT in need of psychological help but still the self help books are among the biggest sellers. People are looking for more life and more awareness, not believing that we need to accept our emotional blocks - common as they may be - and intuiting that the field of psychology is of limited use for the average person. Part of the failure of therapy as well as the self help books is due to the premise on which they are based, dealing with the ““ghost in the machine”” as an entity apart and focusing on analysis and motivation and wilful thinking.

In the last half of the 20th century there began a new approach to address the human psychosomatic interrelationship based again on the idea of energy and itÂ’Â’s flow or inhibition within the organism. It has come a long way and promises to revise our understanding of the mental-emotive process and return to us power over our own feelings and attitudes. Having watched this new theory evolve over some years to the point where it is simple and workable for almost everyone. Having experimented myself and taught some friends some very simple things and seen them change peoples lives, I enthusiastically offer here an introduction to a methodology known as EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) by itÂ’Â’s developer Gary Craig, an engineer by training.

The following excerpt is from a free PDF download of the basic technique. This and more information is available at:

In the early years of my search for personal improvement tools I considered getting degrees in psychology. But the more I was exposed to that field the more I concluded that to do so would work to my disadvantage. Why? Because I would have to learn about methods that didn't work...at least by my standards. I just couldn't see the merits in going through all that schooling to learn something that, to me, was of questionable value. It would, paradoxically, distract me from my true goal of finding personal improvement tools that work. As the years went by I discovered a list of helpful tools that I used for myself and taught to others They were all well received and effective when properly applied. One of the tools that I thought was quite helpful was Neuro Linguistic Programming (also known as NLP). I recommend anyone study it who is interested in personal improvement.

Then my search for reliable personal improvement tools took a mega jump to a new level. I was told about a psychologist in Southern California, Dr. Roger Callahan, who was giving people relief from intense fears (phobias) in minutes. So, ever the eager beaver, I called him immediately to inquire of his methods. He told me that his methods weren't limited to just phobias.

They applied to all negative emotions. That included depression, guilt, anger, grief, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and any other negative emotion I could name. Furthermore, the method usually only took minutes to perform and the result was usually permanent. Then he told me the method consisted of tapping with the fingertips at the end points of the body's energy meridians.

I still didn't see the connection between emotions and the body's energy system but it did have a scientific ring to me. Perhaps I was about to find a truly scientific approach to psychology. Indeed, that is what I found. The true cause of negative emotions, it turns out, is not where everyone thinks it is. It is not where psychologists have been looking. That's why they haven't found it. They have been looking in the wrong place. The cause of all negative emotions is involved with the body's energy system. This is an important, paradigm shifting concept...even though it sounds a bit strange.

But the proof is in the results. For me, the only laboratory that counts is the real world and that is where these techniques excel. You will see that repeatedly throughout the live tapes included with this course. The speed, efficiency and long lasting nature of these techniques is far beyond anything I have come across in 40 years of intensive searching. This discovery is the engine that runs EFT. Without it, this course wouldn't exist. So to better build your understanding we need to focus a bit on that vital energy system. The body's energy system.

Our bodies have a profound electrical nature. Any beginning course in anatomy covers this. Shuffle your feet across a carpet and then touch an item made of metal. Sometimes you can see the static electricity that is discharged from your fingertip. This wouldn't be possible unless your body had an electrical nature to it. If you touch a hot stove you will feel the pain instantly because it is electrically transmitted along the
nerves to your brain. The pain travels at the speed of electricity and that is why you feel pain so quickly. Electrical messages are constantly sent throughout your body to keep it informed of what is going on. Without this energy flow you would not be able to see, hear, feel, taste or smell. Another obvious bit of evidence regarding the existence of electricity (energy) in the body are the electroencephalograph (EEG) and electrocardiograph (EKG). The EEG records the electrical activity of the brain and the EKG records the electrical activity of the heart. These devices have been used by medical science for decades and are the ones you see in TV hospital dramas hooked up to dying patients. When the screen stops "blipping" the patient is dead. Our electrical systems are vital to our physical health. What could be more obvious? When the energy stops flowing....we die. Ask your doctor about this. No one disputes it.

In fact, civilization has known about this for millenniums. About 5,000 years ago, the Chinese discovered a complex system of energy circuits that run throughout the body. These energy circuits...or meridians as they are called...are the centerpiece of Eastern health practices and form the basis for modern day acupuncture, acupressure and a wide variety of other healing techniques. This energy courses through the body and is invisible to the eye. It cannot be seen without high tech equipment. By analogy, you do not see the energy flowing through a TV set either. You know it is there, however, by its effects. The sounds and pictures are your ever present evidence that the energy flow exists. In the same way, EFT gives you striking evidence that energy flows within your body because it provides the effects that let you know it is there. By simply tapping near the end points of your energy meridians you can experience some profound changes in your emotional and physical health. These changes would not occur if there was no energy system. Western medical science tends to focus on the chemical nature of the body and has not paid much attention to these subtle, but powerful, energy flows until recent years. However, they do exist and are attracting an expanding group of researchers.

There are many people who for one reason or the other wish to use sexual energy not for sexual expression in partnership but for other purposes, such as raising energy for healing or spiritual development.

I would point out that we still are in a place where these sexual energies themselves must flow freely first before they can be transmuted into something else. If these energies are blocked or disturbed, they cannot function in the spiritual flow either –– no matter what, and no matter how, sexual energies need to flow freely, lightly and cleanly, without contortions and blockages.

Thanks for this, Arjay. Gary Craig's work sounds fascinating. I think J. William Lloyd ("The Karezza Method") would have nodded knowingly in agreement with Craig. As you know, he originally dubbed the practice of Karezza (sex without orgasm) "Magnetation," because he was convinced that a profound balancing of electrical energies occurs between the partners. Doctor Von Urban had a similar theory, as recounted in "Energy & Eros." (I'll post some of that soon for everyone.)

I think you're right that the full power of this lovemaking practice won't "kick in" until one is emotionally stable and healthy...and willing to put giving first. (I'm convinced that giving is a big piece of getting our electricity to flow in a mutually-benefical direction.

I suspect that the "Peace" system is actually a way for people to go through their "initiation" to sacred sexuality safely, and, perhaps, ultimately, more rapidly than by just muddling along, trusting their guts (which too often counsel passion or defensiveness thanks to our biological design). Some people see amazing results right away with the Exchanges; others just notice gradually increasing equilibrium (with a lot of ups and downs) for a while. Everyone is unraveling old knots at his/her own pace...and the energy flows then reflect that back.

Emotional Freedom

I have attempted to share with this group with the purpose of opening up different ways of understanding things. In the continuation of this thread my goal is more focused. It is to share serious tools for those who want to heal and grow, because they work and work QUICKLY! I have studied many things related to Counseling, Hypnosis, Reiki, Applied Kinesiology, Biofeedback and certain stars shine brightest in terms of their general usefulness and ease of use.

Apart from the Emotional Freedom Techniques referred to above which allow us to work with our energy-meridian system to remove unwanted pains, sensation, emotions, and attitudes, I feel obligated to offer a couple other avenues to explore.

Secondly, The H.A.M.R Method : Related to NLP, this technique is based in neurology. What it offers is a way to reprogram our mind/brain and accomplish our goals creating a different future for ourselves. A little more difficult than EFT, yet it will compliment it.

Lastly, Immunics : This subject is at once the easiest and most difficult to grasp as it relies most directly on pure intentionality and intuition (which will grow using the tools above).

For those interested, I suggest learning (and using) them in the order presented here. and start with their basic manuals, all three of which can be had for the price of a good dinner.

I wish you all health and happiness and of course all the fruits of “Peace”

PS:

More than a simple tool box, these techniques, in conjunction with the "Peace" System, hold a bare bones structure for the development of a true westernized Tantric Yoga, based not in religion but in pragmatic scientific method..

Imagine if you could that the practice of contemplative sexuality could "transmute" the sexual energy into an amplified life force. Imagine that ones emotional reactivity were completely cleared and that even the trauma of physical injury were erased from our energy system. Imagine that the right and left hemispheres of the brain were in synchrony such that the benefits of visualization practices were almost instantaneously translated into new behavioral patterns. Imagine that ones self awareness and will were so developed that one's thought encountered no inhibition from the body mind .... Perhaps scars would disappear, even physical ones, because the body would replace it's cells according to the original pattern. Perhaps aging would slow to a crawl because the collective memory of death would be drained of it's hold. perhaps joy would be ones native state because there would be no experience that could overwhelm it. What do you think?
