Phantom posts

Yesterday and today, I've been noticing something weird. Looking in a particular forum shows new posts in certain threads, shows which user posted, etc; but when I open one of them the most recent post is from a while ago. Were these maybe deleted by admins or mods, but still show up in the forum view?

Not sure

Maybe the system just marks anything you haven't read yet.

The forum existed before the rest of the blogging came into being, and the two aren't necessarily perfectly integrated, so that could be causing confusion, too.

When I look at that thread

I see the post with the most recent date as the 9th reply (falls in the middle of the thread, as there are forks to the thread). It's date is 6/21/2011. http://www.reuniting.info/node/6143#comment-40760

Unless the thread is *really* long and convoluted, you'll go directly to the newest post by clicking on the "new" under the number of replies. It's it long and convoluted, sometimes it won't run the view down to the newest post. That's the flakiness of this version of Drupal.

That's right

It's about the newest posts in the thread you've seen/opened (even if you haven't read it, because it's buried in another level in a thread.( If you're not signed in, then it changes how it looks, and the time is based on the site's date, not your local/account time. And if you're signed in from two o three places, sometimes, things that you've already read will reappear as new, depending on which session you signed out of first.
(Yes, it happens that I'm signed in from three different computers.)
